It wouldn’t be a true Rockport vacation without having a classic fish fry! Head inside after a day full of fishing and put those keeper fish to good use. The whole family will enjoy the crispy golden batter and flaky fish. This recipe can be paired with a number of sides. Our favorite sides include grilled corn, fries, coleslaw, salad, and chips.
Ingredients-
For the Frying:
Your best catch (trout, red fish, and black drum are all great)
Louisiana Seasoned Fish Fry
Canola Oil
For the Sauce:
Ketchup
Horseradish
Lime
Salt
Pepper
Garlic Powder
Directions:
In a large bowl batter each side of the fish fillets with the Louisiana Seasoned Fish Fry
In a large skillet heat 2 inches of canola oil over medium high heat. Carefully place coated fish into the hot oil and fry about 5 minutes on each side until medium golden brown.
Once fish is fried evenly, remove from the pan and drain on a stack of paper towels on a plate.
For the Sauce:
In a medium bowl mix ketchup and horseradish (the more horseradish the spicier)
Add a couple limes and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste
